To promote life long volunteerism and honor outstanding
community service performed by students
Honor Through Service
The
Platinum Torch National Service Honorary was founded to provide a
way to honor and encourage the volunteer efforts of America's students.
Being a member of
the Platinum Torch National Service Honorary
will set you apart and aid in describing who you are, what you stand for, and
the quality of your character. It will provide you with verifiable national
achievement and distinction for the community service that you have performed
in the form of the Community Service Transcript.
The
Platinum Torch is the only national organization that honors
students solely based on outstanding community service. Chapters may be created
at the high school and college level, which allows members to participate in a
new and dynamic movement to promote the importance of community service on your
campus. Forming a chapter gives recognition of your high school or college in
the Platinum Torch community, with an
installation convocation that will be conducted at the end of the school year,
along with Achievement Level awards given to members.

"The most important thing I have
learned from volunteering...
is that by helping the community as a whole, I have given some of its members a
chance to improve their own lives, and thus improve the well-being of the
entire community. I have learned in my life that there is always someone out
there whose life is more difficult and challeging than yours. Community service
allows you to gain perspective by aiding others. I have learned that by being a
part of something larger than yourself, you can find out what life is really
all about."
--Brian, Member of
Platinum Torch, The College of New Jersey
"I have learned from community
service to be patient and nonjudgmental of others because we have so much to
learn from each other."
--Sherri, Member
of Platinum Torch, University of Pittsburgh
"You give but little
when you give of your possession. It is when you give of yourself that you
truly give."
--Kahlil Gibran
